Special Features

The South Warren Ranch Preserve is an important migratory stop-over and wintering area for migratory waterfowl, shorebirds and neotropical songbirds along the North American Central Flyway. This critical bird habitat is due in large part to the historical landscape mosaic of small depressional wetlands, grasslands and agricultural rice production which this tract preserves. It also performs the important function of retaining and absorbing floodwater within the Cypress Creek watershed.
