Map Land preservation agreements (or conservation easements) are legal transactions between a willing landowner and a land trust. They provide landowners the opportunity to protect their property while still being able to use their land for agricultural and/or low-impact recreational activities. The landowner can sell their property in the future, but the conservation easement stays with the land and it is the land trust’s responsibility to make sure that the future owners maintain the conservation values of the property.
