Enjoy Spring at Spring Creek!

Legacy Land Trust and Montgomery County are pleased to announce the grand opening of the   Old Riley Fuzzel Canoe/Kayak launch site:

Saturday, March 17th – 10 a.m.

Please join us as we open the first Montgomery County-owned access point to Spring Creek, featuring a new graphic sign of downstream take-out points as well as a new “parallel bar” system to transport heavy canoes closer to Spring Creek – both graciously sponsored by REI.

Bring your canoe/kayak and join us as we head downstream to Pundt Park take out (2.8 miles)

If creek is too low, or you’d just like to see this new site for future reference, join us too!

Driving Directions

Directions From Old Town Spring:

  1. From I-45, take the Spring Cypress/FM2920/Old Town Spring exit.
  2. Head east on Spring Cypress/FM2920 and veer to the left onto Main Street where Main Street and Gentry merge into Spring Cypress/FM2920.
  3. Follow Main Street through Old Town Spring, veer north and cross the railroad tract onto Hardy Road.
  4. Follow Hardy Road a short distance and turn East where it crosses another railroad tract and becomes Goedecke/Riley Fuzzel Road.
  5. Follow Goedecke Road until it turns into Riley Fuzzel Road at Aldine Westfield Road. Continue on Riley Fuzzel Road past the Aldine Westfield stop sign. Continue under the Hardy Toll Road and across the new bridge at Spring Creek.
  6. After crossing the bridge a short distance, on your left, you will see where the old two-lane road merges into the new five-lane road where the new road curves. Take a left onto Old Riley Fuzzel Road. Proceed to the end of Old Riley Fuzzel Road to where the road is completely barricaded. The Preserve entrance is to your right at the gate.

Alternative Directions From I-45 Heading North:

  1. From I-45, take the Louetta Road exit.
  2. Head east on East Louetta Road.
  3. Follow East Louetta Road to where it dead-ends under the Hardy Toll Road at Aldine–Westfield Road.
  4. Take a Left, heading North on Aldine Westfield until it dead-ends at Riley Fuzzel Road.
  5. Take a Right, heading East on Riley Fuzzel Road. Continue under the Hardy Toll Road and across the new bridge at Spring Creek.
  6. After crossing the bridge a short distance, on your left, you will see where the old two-lane road merges into the new five-lane road where the new road curves. Take a left onto Old Riley Fuzzel Road. Proceed to the end of Old Riley Fuzzel Road to where the road is completely barricaded. The Preserve entrance is to your right at the gate.

Directions From The Woodlands:

  1. From I-45 take the Rayford Sawdust exit; turn under the freeway and head east on Rayford Road;
  2. Follow along Rayford to where it dead-ends at Riley Fuzzel Road.
  3. Turn right on Riley Fuzzel Road; continue past entrance to Spring Trails subdivision until you almost get to the new bridge.
  4. Shortly before the new bridge, the five-lane road veers to the left. As the road veers, you see where the old two-lane road was located.
  5. Turn onto the old two-lane road. Proceed to the end of Old Riley Fuzzel Road to where the road is completely barricaded. The Preserve entrance is to your right at the gate.
